As a starboard oar, I usually rowed bow, but here I'm rowing 3. A typical race requires a few more than 100 strokes. Like in golf, if you can make every stroke perfectly (and in unison with every other oarsmen) you'll usually win. Notice the seats...being on wheels, they appear unevenly spaced as we come to rest. An oar is typically 12.5' long. That's the officials' boat in the background.
